One year ago today, the incomparable Mr Simon Josiffe and I put on our first rehearsed reading. We’d found a small fringe theatre in London that we could hire for the day relatively cheaply and bribed a bunch of actors with the promise of sandwiches and biscuits. A rehearsed reading is a really back to basics affair with no set, props, or costume – the actors meet to go through the material a couple of times but they perform, sitting or standing, with the scripts in their hands.Continue reading “Rehearsed Readings”
Not long after I’d started taking this writing malarkey seriously, the opportunity came up to go on a script writing retreat. A whole week away to write in a nice house with some other writers and an editor on hand to chat to? Sounded great so I signed up.Continue reading “Retreating to Write”
Hello, Debs again. Just wanted to tell you a bit about my next rehearsed reading (also on the bill is the utterly fab Mr Simon Josiffe) which is happening on 25th April in Blackwell’s Bookshop, Oxford – and why this one is an extra big deal for yours truly.Continue reading ““Faery Lands” at Blackwell’s Oxford”

This time, a brilliant cast of actors will be giving voice to two sitcom pilots: “Domesday” by Debs and “SexQuest” by Simon (more info coming soon, but we’ve had a sneaky peak at “SexQuest” here at Wardle Towers and it’s hilarious).
Further information can be found over on Facebook.
If you weren’t able to make Food & Barbarians back in June, don’t worry – you can listen to Debs’ foody sketches below!
(Many thanks to Sam for kindly recording these and to the brilliant cast for being, well, brilliant!)
Following the success of their last rehearsed readings (and the amount of fun they had), Simon & Debs are returning to Baron’s Court Theatre on 25th August for another afternoon of new writing.
Full details are on Debs’ facebook page, but here’s the programme:
